Is Claude Cowork an Agent Yet?

Claude Cowork (formerly Claude Computer Use) is Anthropic's attempt at a desktop agent that can see your screen and click things. After extensive testing, the answer to "is it an agent yet?" is: almost, but not quite. It handles simple workflows well (filling forms, navigating UIs, clicking buttons) but struggles with complex multi-step tasks, error recovery, and anything requiring judgment about timing or context. Compared to Claude Code (CLI agent), Cowork is more visual but less reliable. The main use case today is automating GUI-only workflows where APIs do not exist.
