My Wild Ride Through AI Development Tools (Or: How I Landed Back at Cursor)
After testing Google AI Studio, Cursor, Claude Code, and other AI development tools extensively, Cursor remains the best general-purpose AI IDE for most developers. Google AI Studio impressed with its Gemini integration but felt incomplete for production workflows. Claude Code excels as a CLI agent for autonomous tasks but is not an IDE replacement. The right approach is using multiple tools: Cursor for interactive coding, Claude Code for autonomous tasks and automation, and Google AI Studio for prototyping with Gemini models. Each tool has a clear sweet spot, and trying to use one for everything leads to frustration.
